The benefits of agentic workflows (i.e. skills and dependable repetition) are coming to post production workflows as Cascade opened its beta as an end-to-end, agent-driven production environment built by Dimension and DNEG veterans, and Luma rolled out Skills, a way to save a creative workflow once and rerun it forever.

Another theme this week is consolidation, with After Effects folding its roto tools into one, AI-assisted Object Matte and Midjourney adding a cheaper Draft mode for faster iteration.

And on the union front, SAG-AFTRA locked in four years of AI performer guardrails while the DGA clock ticks toward a June 30 expiration with its own AI terms still unsettled.

What Happened: Cascade Studio launched the open beta of Cascade, an AI-native, end-to-end production platform from Dimension Studio and DNEG veterans.
